The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has committed over US$1 million to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) for a resilience-building initiative in Zimbabwe. This investment, which aims to aid migrant returnees and their households, is a beacon of hope in regions grappling with climate change, hyperinflation, and poverty.

Targeted Aid for Sustainable Development Spanning over 14 months, the project aims to provide income-generating activities and support to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable returnees. The funds, which will be distributed via cash and vouchers, are projected to reach about 1,850 at-risk households, benefiting an estimated 7,955 individuals. In addition to financial support, the program includes provisions for mental health and psychosocial support, acknowledging the importance of emotional well-being in the reintegration process.
